Mental Health Peer Program Specialist – FIRE

Presbyterian Night Shelter is known for serving the homeless in greatest need: those who have no other places to go.  Those who present the greatest challenge to our community are welcome here.  As the largest homeless shelter in Tarrant County, we serve approximately 1,000 men, women and children each night.

Job Summary 

Work closely with participants to support their efforts in obtaining affordable, sustainable housing in order to overcome mental health issues and challenges faced within homelessness. Provide individualized assistance to participants in each phase of the FIRE/ Shallow Subsidies Program in order to obtain and sustain housing. Provide follow-up services, engagement, socialization, social service information and referrals.  

 

Qualifications

High school diploma with some college preferred. 

One or more years’ experience working in mental health strongly preferred. 

1+ years of experience with mental health/substance abuse recovery efforts required. 

1+ years’ experience working with homeless population/ personal experience with homelessness preferred.   

Experience with diverse populations preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. 

Valid driver license and proof of insurance is required. 

 

Salary 

$37,000.00 annually
